ARTHUR ERICKSON ARCHITECTURAL CORPORATION

THE PRACTICE

AEAC is the consulting practice of Arthur Erickson, the internationally celebrated architect based in Vancouver, Canada. Arthur Erickson established Arthur Erickson Architectural Corporation (AEAC) in 1991 as the successor to his previous Canadian practices, Arthur Erickson Architects, established in 1972, and Erickson Massey Architects, established in 1963. A Montreal office was opened in 1965 to service projects for Expo 67 and subsequently moved to Toronto in 1970. Middle East offices were opened in 1978 in Kuwait for the planning and preliminary design of the Fintas Centre and in 1977 in Saudi Arabia for the management of the new Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other major projects in the Kingdom. In 1980, Mr. Erickson won a developer competition for the Bunker Hill redevelopment in downtown Los Angeles and opened an office there in 1981. Arthur Erickson's projects frequently establish precedents in design and he and his associates have received many professional, civic and international awards and honours for the high quality and innovation of their work.

AEAC provides consulting services in architectural design, urban design and interior design, in collaboration with other related professionals, to serve all levels of government, institutions, corporations, developers and private clients. Architectural commissions executed by Arthur Erickson and his associates have included government offices, judicial courts and offices, universities, museums, concert halls and theatres, houses of worship, exhibition pavilions, commercial buildings, hotel and tourist facilities, transit stations, research laboratories and warehouses, housing complexes and private residences.

Arthur Erickson and his associates have also been involved in large-scale planning, urban design and master planning projects for recreational, transportation, tourism and development complexes, as well as commissions for major city developments, waterfronts, coastal development and town centres. Commissions have included the master planning and design of several universities and the programming, master planning and design of large hospitals.

Arthur Erickson continually studies architecture and design traditions from many lands and cultures and strives to incorporate the best spirit of those traditions in his international work. It is this global consciousness, reflected in Arthur Erickson's projects, which has earned him an outstanding reputation for design excellence.
