The house is conceived as a lake house, extending with a diving and swimming deck into the lake itself. At the same time, the property is excavated to bring part of the lake into closer proximity with the living quarters of the house.
The house is entered from the road level at the upper storey. From here, there is access to a roof terrace and down to a sun terrace, shielded from the road, which gives direct access to the main level of the house.
The master bedroom, dining room, and kitchen form one two-story block with billiard room and service room underneath. The living room and den form another block, with playroom and the children's bedrooms underneath. Each of these are at slightly different levels so that one steps down from the dining room into the living room, etc.
The simple post and beam frame, the cabinet work, floors and walls are all finished similarly and are matched in colour by a sisal carpeting so that the house and its interiors provide a neutral background for the lakeside setting.
