This house is located on the high southern bank of Okanagan Lake. The site commands a wide view, and a small existing ravine will be made larger to provide easier access to the lake.
The house is composed of two pavilions connected by a skylit atrium, which is also used as a conservatory. The pavilions are set low on a platform cut into the bank and forming winter courtyards to the south and summer terraces to the north. Another terrace, or bridge, connects the kitchen and living room to the opposite banks of the man made ravine.
A pool is dammed up at the south courtyard level and empties into a small artificial stream that feeds the pool at the beach level terrace and guest house. The ravine planting extends between the existing trees.
The structure consists of 3' x 1' sandblasted concrete columns supoorting deep flat roof platforms. The roofs are constructed of large wooden beams covered with decking and, over the bedroom wing and guest house, soil and sod. Floors are quarry tiles and the courts and terraces are paved and planted.
