Designed 1955 with Geoffrey Massey
The house was originally designed for a bachelor lady artist, and consisted of the kitchen, living room, master bedroom, guest bedroom, bathroom, and studio. Subsequent to the construction of the house, architect Geoffrey Massey married the artist and over the years, due to four children, considerable additional space was required. This consisted of a playroom and laundry to the east of the living room, and three bedrooms and a bathroom were added on the northeast corner. In addition, a greenhouse was constructed on the north end outside the kitchen.
The house was constructed in 1956 and is entirely of wood frame construction. The site is a rocky promontory which projects into Howe Sound. The house was located running along the high point of this promontory in order to obtain the best exposure and take the most advantage of the site. Views are panoramic on the northeast and west sides, and windows have been located to take maximum advantage of the prospects.
